Herr Korbes

Chicken, chicken and others travel to the house of Mr. Korbes. By several coincidences he comes to death.

Once upon a time, a chicken and a cockerel wanted to go on a journey together. The chicken built a beautiful wagon with four red wheels and harnessed four little mice to it. The chicken sat down with the chicken and they drove away together. Not long after, a cat met them and said, "Where are you going?" Chicken answered:
"than out
After the Lord's basket his house."
"Take me with you," said the cat. Chicken answered "with pleasure, sit on the back so that you don't fall down in front.
Take good care of yourselves,
that you do not dirty my red wheels.
You little wheels, wander,
you little mouse, whistle,
than out
After the Lord's basket his house."
After that came a millstone, then an egg, then a duck, then a pin, and finally a sewing needle, all of which sat down on the wagon and rode along. But when they came to Mr. Korbe's house, Mr. Korbe was not there. The mice drove the wagon into the barn, the chicken flew with the chicken on a pole, the cat sat down in the chimney, the duck in the spring pole, the egg wrapped itself in the towel, the pin stuck itself in the chair cushion, the sewing needle jumped on the bed in the middle of the pillow, and the millstone laid itself over the door. Then Mr. Korbes came home, went to the fireplace and was about to light the fire, when the cat threw ash all over his face. He quickly ran into the kitchen and wanted to wash up, when the duck splashed water in his face. He wanted to dry himself with the towel, but the egg rolled towards him, broke and glued his eyes shut. He wanted to rest, and sat down on the chair, when the pin pricked him. He was enraged and threw himself on the bed, but as he put his head down on the pillow, the pin pricked him, so that he cried out and wanted to run off into the world in a rage. But as he came to the front door, the millstone jumped down and struck him dead. Mr. Korbes must have been quite an evil man.
