The Hurds

The hardworking maid who makes a beautiful dress from the trash of the lazy bride is married by the groom at the last minute instead of the lazy one.

Once upon a time there was a girl who was beautiful, but lazy and careless. When she should spin, she was so peevish that if there was a small knot in the flax, she tore out a whole heap and slid down to the ground beside her "Now there was a maid who was hard-working, collected the discarded flax, cleaned it, spun it finely, and had a pretty dress woven from it. A young man had courted the lazy girl, and the wedding was to be held.
At the bachelorette party, the industrious one danced around merrily in his beautiful dress, when the bride spoke
"Oh, how dare that little boy jump
in mine slickerlings!”
The groom heard that and asked the bride what she meant by that. Then she told him that the girl was wearing a dress made of the flax that she had thrown away. When the bridegroom heard this and noticed her laziness and the poor girl's diligence, he left her, went to her and chose her to be his wife.
