The Star Money

A poor child gives away to needy people even their last belongings and receives star talers, which it rains for them and makes them rich forever.

Once upon a time there was a poor little girl whose father and mother had died, she no longer had a house to live in and no bed to sleep in, and nothing left in the world but the clothes she wore on her body, and in her hand a morsel of bread that a compassionate man had given him; but it was pious and good. So she went out, and on the way she met a poor man who begged her so much for something to eat that she gave him the piece of bread; Then it went on, a child came and said: "My head is so cold, give me something to tie around it," so it took off its cap and gave it to the child. And when it had gone a little longer, another child came along and had no bodice on, so it gave it its own; and further on, one asked for a little skirt, which she also gave up, finally it came into the forest, and it was already dark, then another came and asked for a little shirt, and the pious girl thought: it is dark night, you can probably give away your shirt and gave it away. Suddenly the stars fell from the sky and were nothing but hard, shiny dollars, and although she had given away her shirt, she still had one on, but of the finest linen, so she collected the dollars and became rich for her lifetime.
